I won a Raspberry Pi Geocache kit and it arrived yesterday, so I decided to go ahead and pursue my wish to have a vlog, and what better opportunity than now.

I’ve rigged some rubber bands to my lamp to hold my phone in place and after a few short tests: away I go: Let the unboxing start!

After the recording was finished I used KDE Connect to get the video files to my laptop and then what else but Kdenlive to edit it. I’ve learned a few things while doing this:

So, I’ve been to my first Akademy.

I had no idea what to expect, but the experience was unforgettable. I’ve finally had the opportunity to meet face to face a part of the KDE community. I’m sad that not all contributors could come, so we could see ourselfs, just how many we are.

After using LVM for a long time, and performing all sorts of experiments with logical volumes on my laptop, to have flexibility and to be able to keep moving and reinstalling all sorts of Linux distros, I’ve decided to go for it and listen to the Open Source community and give BTRFS a run for it’s money.

Two weeks ago was the release of the latest and greatest Kubuntu.

Kubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet brought to the market one very important and very significant change: It’s among the first distros to ship with Plasma 5 and the new KDE Frameworks 5.

In celebration of this, together with Aaron Honeycutt, Rick Timmis and of course Jonathan Riddell, I held a presentation of our new Kubuntu at the Ubuntu Online Summit 2015.

Out of the need to motivate us and start working hard came the opportunity for me to organize a Kubuntu Sprint to work on the new Kubuntu site.

The main problem: Decide whether to use a WordPress  theme made by an intern or pick one from the WordPress Library.

First of all, a big thank you to the Ubuntu Community for sponsoring me to be there.

I first arrived in Brussels on Friday, at around noon, and took a good nap to rest from my exaggerated long trip (~11 hours): Minivan -> Plane -> Bus -> Tram -> Foot.

It’s almost time to leave and I can’t wait to see my friends from the OpenSource world again and for my first experience at FOSDEM.

I’ve gotten my luggage ready and I’m (almost) ready to leave.

After much research I’ve finally found the right company to make our KDE T-shirts for FOSDEM 2015.

Here’s what they’ve done:

An awesome BSP just took place in München where teams from Kubuntu, Kolab, KDE PIM, Debian and LibreOffice came and planned the future and fixed bugs.

This is my second year participating at this BSP and I must say it was an awesome experience. I got to see again my colleagues from Kubuntu and got to meet new people with whom I hope to collaborate in the future.
